Shortly after our generous donors funded the nursery school, but before we had a chance to disburse the funds, another organization started building a nursery school in Kamangazula. Because the community didn't need two nursery schools, residents came together and voted to use Village X funds for a goat project. The community now has 45 new female goats that it will breed over time (male breeding partners are easy to find) to expand the herd and share billygoats to low-income families throughout the community. The goats will help increase agricultural income by generating manure to fertilize crops, nourish families with meat protein during meals, and allow families to pay expenses like school fees by selling goat offspring.
