Yelemiya's borehole is going strong! Thank you for donating!

Yelemiya’s borehole 💦 wasn’t working right, so the community and Village X tapped a local water official (no pun intended) to solve the problem. Clean water is flowing again!

Great news from Yelemiya Village in northern Malawi. The Village X-funded borehole is working again! The borehole broke a few weeks ago, forcing residents to return to fetching water from unsafe sources like shallow, hand-dug wells. Yesterday, Field Officer Wedson enlisted a government water and sanitation specialist to visit Yelemiya and fix the borehole. The community provided fuel for his motorbike and provided everyone lunch. Yay! This is how community driven development is supposed to work.

"Yelemiya in trouble again, the only borehole stopped functioning, now it's two weeks. The borehole the villagex committee told me that the borehole overwork due to high demand, about 3 villages uses this borehole. Now we are drinking water from uncovered well."

The residents are now getting much cleaner water than they could with the old shallow well.
