Siyabu Village received 42 bags of urea fertilizer. It was decided to distribute that fertilizer to the 42 least affluent families in the village, accounting for about 40% of all households. The families will use the fertilizer, often in combination with natural manure like goat droppings, to help grow a bountiful maize crop. Although Malawi has suffered several years of unpredictable maize harvests (due to floods and droughts), we are hopeful that, this year, good rains and fertilizer will yield a bumper crop.
