Chikumbu Village received a loan of 42 bags of fertilizer just in time for the growing season thanks to holiday donations that fully funded this project. The fertilizer went to the most vulnerable households in the village, and they will repay the loan over the next year and use those repayments to buy fertilizer next year. In his remarks, the chief said that his village is changing before his eyes thanks to Village X's direct, democratic model that puts local people first. He added that Village X is also opening eyes and minds to a new way of doing development that empowers communities, not outsiders, to manage project implementation.
