Here's a short video of the completed borehole! We hope that Matandala will enjoy clean water from this borehole for years to come.

We are overjoyed to report that the borehole has been finished and is providing clean water to an appreciative community. This project had some unexpected twists and turns. The well was drilled back in August, but the village had to wait six additional months for clean water because the drilling company failed to return and finish the well. After failing to make headway by pestering the company to finish the project and even contacting the police, we decided to use $100 from savings to buy tubing (see pics below) and finish the well, with the help of local water officials. This is an important time for the community to have clean water because waterborne illnesses go up during the rainy season, which started about a month ago. Thank you, donors, for making this happen!

Matandala continues to wait for the drilling company to finish the borehole. Borehole components are in short supply because COVID-19 has disrupted supply chains. Will keep you updated.

Still waiting for a pump to finish this clean water well. COVID-19 has disrupted supply chains, making it hard to find parts for wells.

Almost done here. Workers installed a metal fitting to the underground pipe and, around that fitting, a cement and brick base to provide stability. Once the cement dries, workers will install the pump mechanism. Stay tuned!
