We are sad to report that, in the middle of the night, thieves stole parts from Nakhwala's borehole, rendering it unusable. Police are questioning a person in Zomba town who was caught selling spare parts for boreholes. He will appear in court on Monday.

Nakhwala officially opened its clean water well! Residents came out in force to sing, dance, listen to speeches from local leaders (e.g., chiefs), and express appreciation for this important community improvement project. We'll keep you updated on the performance of the well and track local health outcomes to confirm our expectation that the well will lower the incidence of waterborne illness.

The borehole is done and in use! In the coming weeks, the community will host an event to celebrate the arrival of clean water. Will keep you posted.
