Bakili wants to build a classroom to expand its elementary school and accommodate more local students.
Community Problem: Children over the age of 10 from Bakili and twelve surrounding villages currently travel long distances to complete their primary education. This causes children to drop out of school or, at the very least, arrive at school late (particularly during the rainy season). Also, children enduring long commutes to and from school have less time and energy to help their families with day-to-day tasks at home.
Community Solution: Bakili and twelve surrounding villages will build a new classroom at Bakili’s primary school. This will allow local children to finish their primary educations close to home. The new classroom will increase enrollment at the school. The district education manager has agreed to post an additional teacher to the school to accommodate this influx of students.
Partners: generous donors and Bakili Village
Outcome: a new classroom for the village
